There is a job fair at SHS and Chloe finds out that the Daily Planet only accepts four high school internships. When Clark reminds her that Lex is willing to get her a job at the Inquisitor, Chloe protests - "No. I'm interning at the Planet, I don't care if it's delivering coffee to the classified department." Pete tells her to try again when she goes to the journalism conference; only Clark forgot to buy the tickets. Chloe is frustrated that Clark's not willing to spend non-school time around her any more and tells him that while "most men are from Mars, [he's] from some distant planet [she's] never even heard of."

Justin Gains, former Torch cartoonist, shows up back at SHS and tells her he probably won't becoming back to the paper. Chloe tells him that she's re-adjusting her priorities as well and agrees to go out for coffee with him fresh off her fight with Clark.

Later that day, Clark finds out that Chloe's going to the journalism conference with Justin after he went to get tickets from Lex's connections; she snarks that Clark's "not that interested in journalism anyway." Chloe takes the part of Justin's hit-and-run license plate and gives it to her source at the DMV despite Clark wanting her to go to the police. Clark notices that Justin is carrying around clippings of his doctor's accident.

A few days later, Chloe gets a drawing from Justin and finds out that he's always liked her. During an impromptu make-out session, his telekinetic powers reveal themselves. Justin is worried that he'll end up on her wall, but she swears he won't and wants to "make everything float again." Clark walks in on them and asks to have a word in private -- while they are out in the hall Justin intercepts the fax from the DMV.

Clark is worried that the relationship is moving to quickly; Chloe says she knows Justin better than she knows Clark. At that Clark claims he was just trying to look out for her. Chloe gets upset noting that if "[she's] in trouble [he'll] rescue [her], but otherwise [he's] emotionally unavailable" and telling him that he as a "savior complex." She tells Clark that she's willing to take a chance unlike him.

The next day, Chloe is distraught about Principal Kwan's death. Chloe tells Clark that she doesn't need his help and that he's wrong about Justin. He notes that she did get a fax from the DMV and hopes she's right about him. When Chloe goes to see Justin herself later (presumably to ask about the fax) she notices his comic book about the deaths he's causes. She goes off to find Clark, but he realizes she knows.

Chloe runs to Clarks barn and tells him on the phone that she knows how the accidents have happened; Justin uses his powers to take away her phone and beat her around. He notes that "[she's] a fighter" before knocking her out with a horse shoe and trying to kill her with a chain saw. Clark fights Justin and knocks him out before rushing to Chloe's side.

Later, they are sitting in the Talon and Chloe laments that once again she could see Wall of Weird material "a mile away, but put it in front of [her] and [she's] oblivious." Clark says she's just trusting and that he wishes he was as brave as her. Then re-invites her to the journalism conference. Chloe tells him it's a date, and he holds her hand. The Cool shirt returns. This shot of Clark holding Chloe's hand over the table at the Talon is shot and blocked the same way Lois and Superman hold hands over the table in the FOS in Superman II.

However, given the fact that they both attended the Fordman funeral, if they went is debatable. The song used here is a cover of "Time After Time."
