Smallville

Another Chlois Endorsement

Smallville, Season One: ChloeSmallville, Season One: ChloeA guest writer over at Spider-Fan's Web wrote an amazing article about their experiences with Smallville and Chlois - the article is called 'The "What If" That is Smallville?'  In it the author, elliottxoxo, not only talks about being a long time Superman fan, and still hoping & wanting a Chlois outcome for the series even now, but also this very site!  From the article:

Chloe headed the school news paper, quickly labeling herself as a cub reporter who worked along side her counterpart, Clark Kent. Everything about Chloe rang a little too close to the Lois Lane everyone had known before. The only noticeable difference was that she was blonde, not brunette. But, so what?

SV made countless attempts to throw out convicting parallels between Chloe Sullivan and Lois Lane. They are outlined in this great article here, written by Massena: http://www.carboncopy.chlois.org/essays/reasons/some-achieve-greatness-part-i-overview-evidence (Let me just say that http://www.carboncopy.chlois.org is pretty much the epicenter of Chlois/Chlark fandom. It’s a great reference site!)

Hmm.

TV Guide: Couples We Want to Split 2009

TV Guide: Couples We Want to Split 2009TV Guide: Couples We Want to Split 2009For this Valentine's Day, TVGuide did a listing of couples that viewers no longer want to see together; either they never worked, the writing for them is terrible, they lack chemistry, or the relationship has purely been played out. On the list with Leonard/Penny from The Big Bang Theory, Will/Terri from Glee, and Cuddy/Lucas on House, is Smallville's own Clark/EDlois:

Lois and Clark: Smallville

Their void of chemistry and forced interactions have made Season 9 unwatchable for me. They simply woke up as soul mates. That's not how it works! — marikology

Newsarama: Chloe on Relationships, New Storylines

Newsarama Chloe on Relationships, New StorylinesNewsarama Chloe on Relationships, New StorylinesJenna Busch whom reached out to Chlois fans on Twitter before her interview, had a great one-on-one with Allison Mack. Some of the goodies are that Allison's work load has increased, that she's looking forward to working with Annette O'Toole and Michael McKean again, that she'd love to work on Supernatural, and that her episode was a lot more traditional, old school, heart-warming Smallville.

Jenna also asked if Chloe would return to the DP (the claim was Chloe can't Watchtower from the DP which really wasn't what the question was about), and her relationship with Clark (apparently still on the rocks) and with Ollie (a nice diversion but not what Chloe really wants). Allison goes on once again about how DC owns her character now, but once again seems confused that Chloe still has not had an actual appearence in the comics. She does talk about the lasting power for the show which is obvious to anyone whom reads the books right now.  She also talks briefly about spoilers concerning Checkmate for those inclined.

TVGuide Magazine:Allison Mack Talks "Warrior," Chlollie and More!

TVGuide:Allison Mack Talks "Warrior," Chlollie and More!TVGuide:Allison Mack Talks "Warrior," Chlollie and More!Allison Mack talked to Damien Holbrook about directing Warrior indepth the other day, and a bit about where she's going.  Her clarifications include that while Clark and Chloe are having some disagreements about "do the ends justify the means" that chloe is basically trying to save the world, and while she's on this path Ollie will offer her 'more.'  Also, she hints that Chloe's brush with the dark side will have her confronting her cousin as well as getting into a girl-fight with Tess.  Additionally she states that she loves acting (it's easier than directing in some ways) and that show is quite a little family up there, including a cute story about Justin Hartley's birthday.

TVGuide: Allison Mack Excited About Directing Again — and a New Coupling

TVGuide: Allison Mack Excited About Directing Again — and a New CouplingTVGuide: Allison Mack Excited About Directing Again — and a New CouplingNatalie Abrams also sat down with Allison Mack to talk about the show, and specifically going over some of the character dynamics and fan dynamics. Her fans want her with Clark Kent, even though she's got a rebound brewing with Ollie and he's seeing her cousin, the latter being something that Chloe is apparently not thrilled about according to Allison.

Also teased in this interview that Clark and Chloe still have yet to come back together and are being divided still (quite the opposite of what the fanbase wants according to Natalie and her stie's reactions to season nine). They get into the fact that Chloe's aggressively trying to save people this year, especially as the Checkmate story heats up.

Perhaps more interesting is that she hints that the line by Dr. Fate could mean multiple things be it that Chloe ends up crazy, that she becomes the next Dr. Fate, or the other obvious one not mentioned here - that her fate is unknowable.

Of course we at Carbon Copy have a fair idea of what Chloe's fate should be.

Every year when awards season rolls around, we get bummed that some of the shows we enjoy the most—the ones on the CW—aren't even without shouting distance of a nomination, much less a trophy.

So last year we decided to something about it and invented the totally unofficial and totally fun CW Awards, which honors the great acting and writing specific to that network (hush, haters), and this year we're at it again.

The Star Online: School Is In

Smallville, Episode 3.11: Chloe and ClarkSmallville, Episode 3.11: Chloe and Clark

The Star did a list of the top school-centric television series; Smallville was number three!  Also on the list was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars, Gossip Girl, My So Called Life, Freaks and Geeks, The Wonder Years, and Friday Night Lights.

For long term fans, the write up was particularly enjoyable, highlighting Chloe and Clark, and how their reporting pushed the series forward with all of the Wall of Weird cases to solve. The write up does a nice job illustrating why the Chloe/Clark relationship is the back bone to the series, and honestly makes the case (sans one mention of her cousin) why Chloe Sullivan clearly fulfills the role of the iconic Lois Lane in this series:

Need rescuing? If you go to the same school as Clark Kent (Tom Welling), he will definitely save you.

Downplaying his super strength, Clark tries not to do anything that would gain him attention. Luckily his best friend – a nosey Chloe Sullivan (Alison Mack), Lois Lane’s cousin – is always sniffing for trouble, forcing Clark to use his powers to get them out of fixes.

The duo go to Smallville High, where Chloe runs the school paper. Her speciality is investigating the weird and the unexplained, of which there are plenty in Smallville. Both of them are fearless in doing the right thing, so much so, that the principal has to back down a bit when it comes to these two.

E! Online Girl On Top: Runner Up

Smallville, Season Nine: ChloeSmallville, Season Nine: ChloeAfter Yvonne gave and recieved an endorcement at the premiere of the third season of Chuck, it should come to no surprize that Chuck's leading lady Sarah Walker took away the grand prize.

However, fret not because Smallville's own leading lady, Allison Mack, came in 2nd out of 128 of the most amazing female characters/actresses on television currently beating out shows like House, Lost, V, Gossip Girl, and Grey's Anatomy; she was the face of the CW and as the E! Online winning announcement says it was actually quite close:

Millions of votes were cast, and in the end, Yvonne's Chuck character, Sarah Walker, defeated Allison Mack's Chloe Sullivan from the CW's Smallville, 52 percent to 48 percent.

Congradulations to both Allison Mack and Yvonne Strahovski, it's amazing that both cult favorites made it so far and are so beloved by their fanbases.

E! Online Girl On Top: The Final Showdown

E! Online Girl On Top: The Final ShowdownE! Online Girl On Top: The Final ShowdownAfter doging one last bullet in the form of Lost/V's Elizabeth Mitchel, Allison Mack has made it to the grand arena against Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck.  As E! Online puts it:

This is it, TV fans! The final showdown of Girl on Top has arrived, and it's a face-off between two cult heroines: Clark Kent's Girl Friday Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) from the long-running series Smallville versus spy babe Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) from beloved action-comedy Chuck.

So which lady is the most compelling and kickass character? Only your votes can decide!

E! Online Girl On Top: Final Four

E! Online Girl On Top: Final FourE! Online Girl On Top: Final FourAllison Mack has made it to the Final Four being the only CW representation left; and this has gotten so big that even the Smallvile people on twitter have noticed and asked for your help!  This E! Online poll has gone crazy viral as we head into the remaining four slots, as they break it down:

E! Online Girl On Top: Elite Eight

E! Online Girl On Top: Elite EightE! Online Girl On Top: Elite EightAllison Mack/Chloe Sullivan has managed to slip around not one but two Grey's Anatomy favorites to make it to the Elite Eight, and we think E! sums up the situation of the run off nicely:

All we have to say about this Elite Eight round of Girl on Top is ouch, ouch, ouch and ouch, because the matchups are downright painful for us die-hard TV fans.

Two CW faves are going head-to-head in the first game: How are we supposed to decide between Smallville's Chloe (Allison Mack) and Gossip Girl's Blair (Leighton Meester)?!

E! Online Girl On Top: Sweet Sixteen

E! Online Girl On Top: Sweet SixteenE! Online Girl On Top: Sweet SixteenAllison Mack managed to take out Sara Ramirez in the last round of E! Online's Girl on Top but now she's up against another Grey's Anatomy starlet - Jessica Capshaw.  Out of all the CW representation nominated, only Allison Mack and Leighton Meester remain - and should they both win, are headed to take on each other.

E! Online Girl On Top: Round Two

E! Online Girl On Top: Round TwoE! Online Girl On Top: Round TwoE! Online has entered round two of it's Girl On Top poll, and of the three Smallville contestants that made it to Round One, only Allison Mack/Chloe Sullivan remains.  After taking out Ugly Betty, her next step is against Grey's Anatomy/Callie Torres.

We're crossing our fingers for everyone's favorite newsie as Grey's Anatomy and Gossip Girl have both been taking out their competition left and right (it's fitting to note that both shows took out our other two Smallville nominees).

E! Online Girl On Top: Round One

E! Online Girl On Top: Round OneE! Online Girl On Top: Round OneE! Online's Girl on Top competition is about to get started, and amazingly enough all three of Smallville's ladies have made it!  As the site itself puts it:

And so it begins...

TWoP's Biggest Disappointments: Smallville Season Nine

TWoP's Biggest Disappointments: Smallville Season NineTWoP's Biggest Disappointments: Smallville Season NineTelevision Without Pity put out their list for the Biggest Disappointments on Television in 2009; Smallville both being picked up for and the execution of it's ninth season made the list.  Other stand outs included were the fake-out "Huddy" ship on House, "everything" about Dollhouse, the ending season of Battlestar Galatica, cancelation of The Sarah Conner Chronicles, and Paula leaving American Idol.

Here's the write up on Smallville,  pointing out not only the disappointment in renewal but on how the plot lines since Al Gough & Miles Millar left just do not work, with the new show runners failing attempts to reboot the series into what it's "supposed" to be rather than fulfilling what it is/was (emphasis ours):

E! ONline Girl On Top Tournament

Girl On Top Tournament ContendersGirl On Top Tournament ContendersE! Online is doing another "Whose Your Favorite Actor" run off poll over the holidays, only this time, it's for the actresses.  As it says on their web site:

We learned from the first tournament that you guys want some control over who is included in the brackets, so we're offering up 128 of the best female characters on TV for an initital selection round. This means you guys can decide who should be included in Girl on Top and at what rank they enter the initial 64-contestant tournament.

The 128 initial names have been divided into four groups of 32. You should vote for your faves in every group, and we'll automatically include the top 12 names in each group at that rank. We're reserving the last four slots in each group for "editor's choice," which allows for both whismy and for write-in votes to get some play.

So far it looks like all three of Smallville's ladies are in play, and all in different categories so hopefully they won't be run against each other if anyone makes it to the round of the tournament's sixty-four contestants.

Chloe Sullivian is on the Top 100 Fictional Femmes of Genre Film and Television

Top 100 Fictional Femmes of Genre Film and Television (2008)Top 100 Fictional Femmes of Genre Film and Television (2008)Pink RayGun has put Chloe Sullivan on the list of the Top 100 Fictional Femmes of Film and Television.  Although she comes in at 79, this is an epic list of women and her write up should make all Chloisers smile at the fact that Pink RayGun has exactly figured out what makes her aweomse is also what makes fans recognize her as Lois Lane (emphasis ours):

79. Chloe Sullivan (Smallville) – It’s tragic that she doesn’t receive half the respect that she deserves. It’s a testament to her sense of humor, devotion to justice, and dogged curiosity that fans of the show assumed she was a nascent Lois Lane. A greater compliment could not exist, as Lois Lane is another top, top, top fictional femme in the same fictional universe. Over time, she’s morphed into the only responsible adult in a two-state radius, and she’s proven that she can navigate the dictates of her conscience even in a world where she must battle both Earth-bound and intergalactic threats.

Portrait's 30 Under 30 2009; Allison Mack, #21Portrait's 30 Under 30 2009; Allison Mack, #21Allison has made Portrait's 30 Under 30 again, the only person from Smallville to make it.  Dubbed "Smallville's Sweetheart" they gave her a rather glowing write up at #21:

#21. Smallville’s Sweetheart: Allison Mack
Born: July 29, 1982

She’s the Smallville darling that has been there since day one, and when it was suggested that Allison and her character Chloe Sullivan may not have returned this season, fans turned rabid, demonstrating just how dedicated Allison’s fanbase is! Year after year, Allison wows us with her acting talents and her mix of vulrenable yet tough portrayal of Chloe. Allison’s spirituality and thoughfulness as demonstrated through her blog and other projects outside Smallville further adds to why fans love her so much.

What’s Next:Having already shown her directing skills in a previous episode of Smallville last season, Allison is set to direct another episode 9x11 “Warrior”, which will air in late January. Her production company Parvati Creative Inc., which she opened with Rosa Bhura and former Smallville co-star Kristin Kreuk, will no doubt also keep Allison busy.

Allison Mack on 100 Sexiest Women of 2009

BuddyTV: Allison Mack #53 on 100 Sexiest WomenBuddyTV: Allison Mack #53 on 100 Sexiest WomenBuddyTV has releast the first half of their sexiest list and Allison beat out such names as One Tree Hill's Sophia Bush, America's Next Top Model's Tyra Banks, Project Runway's Heidi Klum, Glee's Dianna Agron & Lea Michele, and The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev.

The write up even included a not-so-subtle slam at the show for taking away Allison's screentime and friendship with Clark to be replaced by another character; they do compliment the general bad-assery that Chloe is doing this year is interesting.
