Sometimes She's Blonde: Disguises in Comics

A Look At Comics Disguises

In the Pre-Crisis DC Universe, it wasn't uncommon for Lois Lane to hatch out alter-egos,  or have sudden amnesia for stories, or in order to get to Superman. This is a look at those stories where Lois ends up hiding in plain sight, and the vast majority have one singular thing in common: hair color.

3.22, Covenant

Lionel is meeting with his paid-off agent, Loeder who claims "I can't control some bleach-blond Pulitzer wannabe from dredging up evidence for a decades-old homicide." Meanwhile,Chloe's working in the Torch; Jonathan visits her with the tea cup that Kara used.  Jonathan asks her to run the prints as a personal favor; Chloe backs off her third degree and agrees, telling him it might take a little time.

She meets with Lex later that night; Lex reveals to her that his dad is sick and dying and she gives Lex an out to stop with the legal process.  Lex says he's not giving up; his father is a dying man with little to loose. However, he wants her to have all the facts of what's going on before she commits; she assures him that she's "not backing down."

Chloe is at the Metropolis courthouse waiting for Clark to show up - in a pretty black suit.  She talks with Lex, questioning why Clark wouldn't show up at all - and notices Clark (in his standard 'Superman' SV outfit) through the crowd. Clark breezes past Lex and her; she takes off after him leaving Lex alone.

Repurposed 'Chloe Sullivan' Not in DCU

Smallville, Season Six: ChloeSmallville, Season Six: ChloeDespite rumblings for the last few months that chloe might be coming to the DCU, repurposed as a much younger DP intern whose radically reduced in her rolls in Clark's life, that just isn't happening - according to Dan DiDio.

"Chloe is an exciting character on the television show, and we had hoped to work her into DC continuity," DiDio stated in a recent interview with Newsarama.com.  "Unfortunately, the stars did not align properly, and even though we had announced it, she will not be appearing in any of the issues of Superman or Action Comics."

Why this happened hasn't been announced, though it is widely speculated that the fans disinterest in seeing a Chloe who was de-aged, de-secretted, and de-friended from Clark's life wasn't something that interested the character's large fanbase.  Which given that she was repurposed to begin with because she was too much like DCU's Lois Lane should be a good sign for all of the Chloisers out there.

Busiek's DCU!Chloe & Backhanded Chlois Endorcement

Smallville, Season Seven: ChloeSmallville, Season Seven: ChloeKurt Busiek has developed a pitch to bring a 'new' version of Chloe Sullivan to the DCU.  While the character would still be an aspiring journalist and a college student, the plan is to bring her in that way in contrast to Clark's current age in his 30's.  Additionally she would not know his secret or have 'made it' yet in her career because those things would step on Lois toes:
